Kirsty spent two years in the UK where she gained valuable recruitment and HR experience within two well-known global organisations.

During a family visit to the UK in 2008, Peter asked Kirsty to join the business upon her return, which she did in January 2010. Prior to travelling to the UK, Kirsty recruited in the Office Support and Call Centre space for a large New Zealand owned recruitment agency as well as having gained a wide range of experience through her previous HR roles at KiwiRail, Vector and IHC.

Kirsty is committed to providing the highest level of service to her clients and candidates and to achieving positive outcomes for both parties.

NIKKI WALSHAW

Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Education), Bachelor of Tourism Management, Victoria University of Wellington

Nikki is the joint Director and owner of McLaren Associates alongside Kirsty. Nikki recruits across all industry sectors, for roles up to and including executive level.

Nikki and Kirsty date back to school days and having lived, worked and travelled together in the UK. Kirsty jumped on the opportunity to have Nikki join the team when she returned to New Zealand in October 2011.

Nikki has an extensive recruitment background having commenced in the industry in 2004. After spending two and a half years working for an Auckland based global recruitment company, Nikki moved to London where she was employed as part of a managed service solution for Morgan Stanley; a large American Investment bank. There she was responsible for recruiting Finance and Banking Operations contractors.

More recently Nikki was employed as a Commercial/Bid Manager where she managed the end-to-end bid process and was involved in new contract negotiations and new account deployment.

Nikki is passionate about providing a high quality and consultative service where she is viewed as a trusted advisor to her clients and candidates.

BELINDA WOTTON

Qualifications: Diploma of Teaching/Conjoint Degree programme, Wellington College of Education, Victoria University, London City and Guilds 706/1 Chefs Qualification

Belinda is the Principal Consultant at McLaren Associates and recruits at a senior management and executive level.

Belinda has an extensive background in recruitment having embarked on her first recruiting role in London in 1992. In 1994 she was approached to open her own teacher recruitment agency and she and her team significantly grew the business to the point where it was acquired by a publically listed company.

She returned to New Zealand with her young family and opened TeachLondon Limited, managing branches in the UK, South Africa, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

When she sold TeachLondon in 2004 she decided to open an upmarket eatery in Porirua City and established Peppermill Delicatessen. This allowed her the flexibility a lifestyle business offered while she had a young family.

With the deli sold early in 2015, Belinda joined McLaren Associates to focus primarily on executive roles and with her vast operational experience can be relied on to provide sound and informed advice.

Belinda is committed to providing honest and transparent feedback to all parties and has well developed skills in building solid business relationships.

SALONI PANDEY

Qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce & Administration (International Business, Human Resources & Industrial Relations and Commercial Law), Victoria University of Wellington

Saloni (also known as Sal to her dearest) is our Para Consultant, whose primary role is to support Nikki, Kirsty and Belinda.

After graduating from university in 2012, Saloni commenced her career at the New Zealand Defence Force as a Candidate Coordinator, where she coordinated all in house military recruitment, from assessing candidate applications to preparing candidates for an intake. Known for her outgoing personality and excellent people skills, Saloni brings an efficient approach to her work and is keen to grow as a recruiting professional.

Having grown up in a career driven family, Saloni is determined to make her mark in the HR & recruitment field to one day hopefully obtain a senior leadership position within the industry.

SHANNON POPPLE

Qualifications: Receptionist Skills Level 2, Business Administration and Computing Level 3 & 4

Shannon is our multitasking Recruitment and Office Coordinator whose primary functions are to keep the office running “like clockwork” and support our three consultants alongside Sal. She is the first port of call when you visit our office or meet with one of our consultants.

Shannon has over three years’ experience working within the recruitment industry as well as experience working in finance and the public sector in Wellington. She has recently returned home from Perth, having worked in the private sector there for the last two years.

Shannon prides herself on going above and beyond in order to meet all clients and candidates’ needs and expectations.

PETER McLAREN

Peter is the Founder of McLaren Associates and is Chair of our Advisory Board.

Prior to establishing McLaren Associates Peter had been a Senior Consultant with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Human Resources Manager at Data General, Deputy National Director for IHC, Corporate Personnel Manager with Lion Corporation and Senior Personnel Manager with International Computers Limited.
